01The setup
Disneyland food is half the experience. Here are the best picks and how to order them.
Classic snacks: Mickey-shaped beignets at the Mint Julep Bar in New Orleans Square (rotating seasonal flavors like pumpkin spice). Classic churros from any park cart, with seasonal varieties and unique coatings. The hand-dipped corn dog from Little Red Wagon on Main Street (worth the line). Dole Whip pineapple soft serve at The Tropical Hideaway in Adventureland. The Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar from any cart (vanilla in thick chocolate shell). Bengal Barbecue skewers in Adventureland ($5–8 each, try the Banyan Beef or Safari Skewer).
02Going deeper
Secret menu items: Disneyland has off-menu options at many locations. At Refreshment Corner on Main Street, try the Spicy Firefly Chips with chili, cheese, and jalapeños (once off-menu, now a regular at $5.99). Lamplight Lounge at DCA has the most: ask your server about The Funwheel (a colorful layered drink), the Zombie cocktail, the Dole Whip cocktail (coconut rum and pineapple juice), or the Mexican Candy Drink (tequila, mango, lime, watermelon, bitters). Many "secret" items are creative customizations. Ask Cast Members what's available off-menu. Some items appear in the app's mobile ordering but not on physical signs.
Tip Ask Cast Members about off-menu items. Lamplight Lounge at DCA has the most secret options.
03Pro moves
Best value meals: Food adds up ($12–18 per quick-service meal, $25–45 for sit-down). Best value: Bengal Barbecue skewers in Adventureland (filling and affordable), Cozy Cone Motel items at DCA Cars Land (try the bacon mac and cheese cone), and the Carthay Circle Lounge downstairs at DCA (same fried biscuits as the upstairs restaurant, fraction of the price, no reservation needed). The free Boudin Bakery tour in San Fransokyo Square at DCA includes a sourdough bread sample. Jolly Holiday Bakery Café's toasted cheese and birria cheese sandwiches are among the best savory items in either park. Red Rose Taverne in Fantasyland serves the Grey Stuff Gateau (cookies and cream mousse), a Beauty and the Beast favorite.
04Final word
2026 seasonal and 70th anniversary specials: Disneyland's 70th Anniversary brought limited-time treats. Tiana's Palace offers the Sweet Heat Beignet Chicken Sandwich (fried chicken, buffalo sauce, creamy slaw on beignet bread). Red Rose Taverne has the "70th Stuff" Shortbread Cookie (cookies-and-cream shortbread with raspberries and mousse). Look for Mickey Hat Cookies at multiple locations and the Strawberry Shortcake Macaron. In Galaxy's Edge, the Black Caf Cold Brew (sweet cream cheese topping with cocoa puffs) is a fan favorite. These items rotate seasonally, so check the Disneyland app or Disney Food Blog before your visit.
05Bonus round
Mobile ordering: Mobile ordering through the Disneyland app avoids 20–30 minute food lines. Orders open at 7 AM daily. For popular spots like Jolly Holiday Bakery Café and Galactic Grill, order early to lock in your preferred pickup window. They fill up on busy days. You can modify your pickup time if slots are available. Place your lunch order at 7 AM for an 11:30 AM window, then place a separate dinner order later in the morning.
Place mobile food orders at 7 AM for popular spots. Pickup windows fill up on busy days.
Off-peak dining: Eating at non-standard times shortens both restaurant waits and ride lines (everyone else is eating). Aim for lunch before 11 AM or after 1:30 PM, and dinner at 4:30 PM or after 6:30 PM. During peak dining hours (11 AM–1 PM for lunch, 5–6 PM for dinner), ride wait times drop 10–20%. Use that window to hit headliner rides. For sit-down restaurants, book reservations up to 60 days in advance. Blue Bayou, Lamplight Lounge, and Carthay Circle are the hardest to get. Check the app a few days before for cancellation openings.
